This is a wonderful, small write-up from Lori Saltzman of the Moving Center. Last month One Billion Rising called people all over the planet to stand up together. The power of the dance, the power of so many human beings embodying a single truth, was a magnificent tribal event the world has rarely seen. And...standing up is not a one time event – it takes fortitude. In relationships, at work, in a conversation, with our own habits, we are called to stand again and again, in movements big and small, and rarely with a roaring crowd cheering us on. So how do we learn to embody this powerful practice? For 30 years my most faithful teacher and potent ally has been my body in motion. Where do you stand? What do you stand for? Who do you stand behind, beside? What are you afraid to stand up for? What won’t you stand for anymore? How do you stand your ground when the ground is shaking? Let’s ask the questions and let our bodies answer.
